The first paragraph had a typo "now and days" - really? but I got past it and managed to read only to find more typos, grammatical errors, and the same typo again towards the end of the book.

That aside, the characters were underwhelming, and so was the storyline. The author gave very little information on the main character that not only could I not connect with her, but I felt she was a bit of a loser, I didn't care much for her or him for that matter. Sophie was a waitress with an unemployed mooch for a boyfriend neither of whom had any goals or aspirations. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting waiting tables down in any way, I just think the lead h in a story should have some strength of character or aspirations she's striving for, and if she comes off as being weak, usually there's a background story explaining why. Otherwise, why would I want to read about her? There was nothing appealing about Sophie in this book so it was hard to understand why this guy wanted her to stay with him after he'd slept with her; it's not like they'd connected on any level whatsoever.

Then there was just the unbelievable series of events. She leaves her life behind and stays in the Caribbean (not sure where because I guess the author couldn't pick a specific location) with a guy she's known for two days, and to do what? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! She knows nothing about him, not where he's from, not what he does for a living, not even his last name. Then he whisks her to China for god-knows-how-long, where she discovers he's a drug dealer (yeah, didn't see that one coming - cuz bankers and attorneys are generally that secretive about their jobs too). Anyway, she gets pregnant, convinces him to leave drug dealing behind, then they go into hiding - now we have two losers who do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

But what got me was towards the end when they're both doing a final drug-run for his old boss and she's tired, he offers her some coke - tells her she barely has the strength to keep going, and her response...."okay, okay". WTF? How many people who've never done drugs before, who are opposed drugs (given that she was mortified when she found out what he did for a living) would take that little convincing to do something as hardcore as coke? I mean seriously, while the story was pretty unbelievable throughout, that part was just way out there.

Final verdict - don't even waste your time, I really wish I hadn't even though it was free.

Breaking Sophie BDSM Erotic Romance edition by Cara Layton Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It had the potential but just didn't follow through. There just never seemed to be any depth and as a result no connection with the characters. I would however read something else by this author to see if her next book had improved.
This story had a lot of content. I enjoyed it even though it was not what I was expecting. The description is abit misleading and I wouldn't really class it as bdsm. It is quite mild in that respect. Also some of the descriptive wording choices are different than I would've chosen.
I am a fast reader and would have enjoyed more to read about. But after the silly beginning I started to like this book. I just wish the author had given it a chance to be a good book. It had potential and could have had a lot more of a story. 2 stars because it was free. Author rewrite this book and put more into it . I think if you do you will see more people reading your books.
I had high hopes for this book but I can't stand when books have misleading information. The writer obviously has no clue what BDSM is. A spank or two does make the story anything remotely the same as BDSM. It was a huge disappointment and I wouldn't suggest it unless you are looking for a story as low key and bland as the "Fifty Shades" series.
I will admit the story is way far fetched, but you usually don't read these kinds of books for believable plots if you know what I mean. I bought this book because I wanted a book that was short, full of steamy scenes, and gave me a hero to swoon over. While Dom's not my usual cup of tea, he is great in the intimate scenes, which was really all I was looking for. The heroine is down to earth. In the beginning of the book, she is at a place that we have all been before. She's stuck at a job she hates with a man she no longer loves and she is pretty sure that he isn't faithful. Then she gets what every single woman wishes she has, an unbelievable trip to paradise with her best friend. It only gets hotter and sexier from there. If you are looking for action, sex, and a man to swoon over, this is just the book for you.
I really enjoyed reading this book about Sophie & Dom and the many adventures that life takes with the one you love. Sophie met Dom when she was on vacation in the Caribbean, she was on the beach with her girlfriend Ari, when Dom smiled at her. He set up a drink tab, which he paid for her and her girlfriend. Ari got sloshed after drinking all day a passed out around 3pm, so Sophie was on her own for dinner. She wasn't alone for long when Dom showed up, they ate sushi and drank and then went for a drive. Read this book, because their isn't anything a man in love won't do for the women he loves. I laughed, cried and came a lot in fact I was wet through out this whole book, as well as enjoyed reading the great story.
I read a lot of books and very rarely do I leave a negative response. This book is so unbelievable it is amazing. ****spoiler **** our heroine goes on vacation, meets a guy has phenomenal sex and just never goes home. It turns out that our guy is a drug dealer. She turns up pregnant, gets a threat from her not quite ex, is required to do a drug run by her lovers bad guy bosses, does coke because that's the only way she will get through the jungle... oh and the author take time out of the dangerous trek through the jungle for them to have drug fueled sex... I never leave negative reviews but this book so disturbed me that I had to. On a positive note, the book was fairly well written and the sex scenes were good.
